Still-life artist, Joan Potter, works in her light flooded studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by her favorite things collected from travels around the world.  Most of these treasures plus flowers from her garden and produce from the local farmer’s market find their way into her beautifully composed still-life paintings.

Joan began painting in New York City in 1964, studying at the Art Student’s League and with David Leffel.  By the time she moved to Santa Fe in the mid-1980’s she was already considered one of the premier still-life artists in the country.

The masterful complexity and execution of Joan’s still-lifes create a rich, light-filled tapestry of color and texture that speaks to the collector on many levels.  To see one of her paintings is to understand why she is such a highly sought-after artist.
